Couture: Weekend Brunch Wear

If there is one trend that I can't get behind, it's an early morning brunch. I am not a let's get up and eat kind of person. I'm more of a breakfast bar on the go kind of girl. Don't get me wrong. I love brunch food... but I prefer my avocado toast at a more civilized lunch hour. I may be an early bird on the weekdays, up before dawn every morning, but on the weekend I enjoy my sleep.

That being said, I found an early morning brunch this weekend to be surprisingly enjoyable, despite that it began at 9:00 am. The event was hosted at Newcastle Golf Club, a venue that's a bit more swanky than your corner cafe where you can show up post barre class with yoga pants and a messy bun. The occasion called for class, so I had to zhuzh it up a little more than usual.

This fancy brunch look started with a pretty spring pink dress. I played up the so-very-sixties era crochet on the dress with a bun, pearls, and bright white pumps. The top handle satchel style bag really added to the look. I was going for a Jackie O meets Audrey Hepburn effect. The next time I rewear this dress, I could style it differently for other events by pairing it with flip-flops and a denim jacket for a casual day look or by adding black ankle booties and a leather moto jacket for a feminine edgy evening look. The key to styling a dress is making it seem fresh and different with each wear. If it feels different, you're more likely to get additional uses out of what would otherwise be a one-and-done kind of dress.

Here's the look.
