Carrots: My New Favorite Ballard Vegan Spot

Thanks to a recommendation from my friend Erika, a native of Ballard, I got the inside skinny on where to find the best vegan meal in her neighborhood. No Bones Beach Club is my new favorite lunch spot, and let me tell you, it is worth the trek across the bridge.

On a recent sunny weekend, I visited No Bones not once but twice, for back-to-back lunches. The first time was with my friend Jacqui, and it was so good that I decided to bring Ryan back the next day. Yes. You heard me. I drove to Ballard and back for lunch two days in a row. If that doesn’t say something about the food, then I don’t know what does!

Menu highlights include the Fried Avocado Tacos, the Sesame Ginger Cauliflower Wings, the Bahn Dot Com Sando, and my favorite: the Kale Caesar. I had the Kale Caesar both days, once with blackened tofu and once with blackened tempeh. It was awesome both ways. On my second visit, we made friends with some fellow dog owners sitting behind us who insisted on sharing their Northwest Nachos with jackfruit carnitas and guacamole. Shout out to Mishka’s parents--that’s our new favorite dish!

There’s no bones about it... okay, I know. Corny AF. But No Bones Beach Club is where it’s at. Go hungry because you will want to eat everything on the menu. Here’s hoping they expand to the Eastside, but until then, No Bones will be my excuse to wander over to Ballard now and then on weekends.
