Nestled on a quiet street off Sonnenstrasse, a main thoroughfare in Munich, Max Pett is a centrally located vegan restaurant that I found on HappyCow.net. Ryan and I ventured out in the bitter cold on
our first night in Europe during our December holiday. We were jet lagged, shocked
by the freezing temperatures, and starving for anything that wasn’t an airplane
meal. We were swiftly seated in a quiet, cozy corner in the back of the restaurant, away from the drafty door. The restaurant
was a bit odd in décor—it’s like it was trying to figure out what it was—a sit
down dinner house, a bakery, or a deli with to-go boxes. Despite the eclectic ambiance, and the rather poor
service, the food was excellent. We both started with the soup—Ryan had a
potato soup while I opted for the dahl. For my entrée, I had a falafel salad
and Ryan had the pumpkin ravioli. Our entire dinner was under 50 euro, and was
warm and satisfying. Even the seeded bread they brought to the table was quite
good, especially when the crusts were used to sop up the last bites of our
soup. Though we were too full to be tempted, the dessert menu (and the
impeccably decorated cakes in the case by the door) looked like great
offerings. If we were in Munich, we would definitely return!
