Couture: Evereve

If you are at all familiar with the months-long drag of winter in the Pacific Northwest, then you know how precious and infrequent 65 degree days are in March. When these rare gems occur, you would be remiss to not take full advantage. Sunday was one of those glorious days! The sun was out in full force and I soaked up every second. The only thing better than a day full of sunshine is a day full of sunshine spent with your sister. My sister and I have a little ritual which is great for our physical health, but not so great for our wallets. Every few months we take a barre class together, wander our way to a coffee shop for well deserved post-shake and push up lattes, and then mosey into our favorite local boutique, Evereve.

Evereve opened a couple of years ago in Redmond Town Center. At first, I was reluctant to venture in because the store is advertised as being specifically geared toward the demographic of moms. I do not have children, so I initially felt a little excluded by the brand's advertising at first. But, after my first few visits, I learned that Evereve's mission is all about female empowerment... for all women. And, I quickly found a company that supports my values and my love of fashion. I was hooked!

When you walk into Evereve, you will be welcomed by the friendly associates, and likely by first name if you are a returning customer. They make an effort to get to know you by remembering what you like and don't like as far as patterns, print, and fit , as well as what is happening in your life outside of fashion. And, unlike so many other retailers, and especially small boutiques, none of the Evereve sales associates work on commission. So, you don't have to worry about being talked into buying that "great sequined sweater that's totally versatile" that you know you'll actually never wear. The associates make suggestions and will often encourage me to try on something that I would never have chosen for myself--case in point, I now own several rompers. Yesterday, they talked my sister into trying on an oh-so-cute jumpsuit that I saw while we were browsing and thought, "She would look so cute in this, but she'd never even consider it." Voila, the gals at the Redmond Evereve not only convinced her to try it on, but she looked so radiant in it and she took it home! That's the beauty of the Evereve team--when you shop alone, it's like you have a good friend or your sister with you. They will give you an honest opinion, even if you want to love it but it's not right on your body, and they will never talk you into buying a piece you don't totally adore.

Evereve is like the beachy boutique you love to browse when you're on vacation, the professional, business casual section of J.Crew, and the cool Instagram girl version of Anthropologie, all rolled into one store. Evereve offers a wide variety of options to take you from post barre class athleisure wear, to easy mix and match work denim and tees, to super hot date night dresses. They carry a variety of brands including Michael Stars, Free People, BB Dakota, and Sundry, and designer denim such as 7 For All Mankind, Paige, Citizens of Humanity, Level 99, and AG. The store's collection is a curated assemblage of the best pieces of all the brands. Unlike larger department stores which can be overwhelming with too many options, Evereve is a small retail space that only carries a handful of choice pieces from each brand. Because Evereve's sytlists and buyers have already sifted and sorted through the full collection from each brand, you're shopping the best of the best each season.

This weekend, as the sun rays filtered through windows, and the warm 65 degree weather wafted through the store's open doors, my sister and I browsed with an eye for spring. Of course, my sister happened to be shopping for an upcoming beach getaway (insert jealousy here!), but I joined the fun and picked up some sunny items in hopes that adding these pieces to my closet in an effort to prove that Punxsutawney Phil was surely wrong in reporting an extended winter.

Somehow, an hour went by in a blink as we swung open our opposing dressing room doors to show each other each look, exclaiming with approval or laughter. She wisely talked me out of a kimono style wrap that was really made for the 6 foot tall version of myself, and which I could not pull off at only 5'3". I talked her into an easy jersey striped tee with a ruffle hem. These are the reasons you should shop with someone you trust! It was the kind of afternoon that you can only spend with your sister. At the end of our shopping session, we emerged with fuller bags than we'd expected, but with even fuller hearts and sore abs--and not just from our barre class that morning, but from the belly laughter of an afternoon well spent.

Here are a few pics of Evereve, as well as some of the great pieces I took home!

Love these vibrant vacation accessories! Coral and bright pink scream vacay.

Denim jackets and pretty patterns--the perfect pairing for spring.

I am obsessed with these sandals by Rebels. They will surely be one of the items I pick up next time I'm in! The easy tee speckled with pineapples would be a great compliment to the sandals, but I would also pair it with skinny black pants and gold heels for a dinner look.

So. Much. Denim. A style for every body type.

These are some of the pieces I tried on. Loved the blue striped off-the-shoulder dress, but I couldn't justify the purchase it since it shows a little too much skin for work. Don't worry... I came home with several other pieces!

This ruffled, bell sleeve polka dot top combines so many of my favorite fashion elements. I will pair it with black skinny jeans and flats for work, and do a half tuck with light colored cropped jeans and a chunky wedge sandal for the weekend.

Love this Bobi tank. I tried it on with shorts and jeans, and I can already see this will be a staple in my closet this summer. Good thing I bought two...

This eyelet top is more of a true black than it appears in the photo. I will experiment with wearing white and black camis underneath. I can already envision it with white jeans and my black and white gingham heels for a Hamptons-ready brunch look.

This photo is courtesy Evereve.com. I came home with the Sunday in Brooklyn check poplin black and white top. I like the way they have this styled with a chunky heeled bootie and distressed denim. For a more work appropriate style, I might wear this with black or dark denim bootcut jeans, heels, and pearls. I think it would be cute tucked in with a bright colored belt and red heels for a more polished look.
