Carrots: Date Night at Little Brother

One of our favorite spots for date night is Little Brother. Cousin restaurant to our other fave, Deru, Little Brother is the fancier more upscale spot that we save the occasional splurge or special occasion. In fact, I believe we have celebrated both our anniversary and my birthday there two years in a row! Clearly, when we have some celebrating to do, Little Brother is first on the list.

Little Brother is the restaurant of my dreams. The space is equal parts industrial, modern, and farmhouse. Built with an open kitchen so you can watch the action happening, the restaurant features beautiful candle lighting and cozy wooden bench seats complete with overstuffed pillows so you can literally curl into a "booth" table. Don't mistake comfort for casual. Little Brother is fine dining. The restaurant aesthetic might boast modern glassware and no tablecloths, but the service is top notch. The servers are knowledegable, warm, and unobtrusive. They refill water glasses, offer second glasses of wine (why yes, thank you), scrape the table for errant crumbs between courses, and surreptitiously fold napkins while you're in the loo. You'll feel as pampered as you will sated and you'll be left eager to go back. A special shout out to our favorite server, Cora, who goes out of her way to ensure that we feel extra cared for while we're dining.

A few notable faves on the menu worth mentioning... Ryan loves the Lamb Ragu and I always go for their salad with the pistachios. The Hummus Board is filling for the price and comes with their freshly baked bread, a recipe the owner perfected over the course of several years. They craft beautiful cocktails, but if you're in the mood for wine, we recommend the Amity Vineyard White Pinot Noir (yep, I said it white pinot noir... the unicorn of wines). For an afternoon stop in or a caffeine-free evening treat, try their Golden Latte with homemade almond milk. Whatever you order, you won't go wrong.
