Couture: Springtime Staceface Slides

Every once in awhile I wind up in the right spot at the right time. While (mostly) window shopping along Madison Avenue in New York this week, I spotted some welcome signage in the Alice + Olivia storefront: Friends and Family Event. That's right folks. All Alice + Olivia clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. are on sale through this weekend! A + O is one of my most coveted reach brands. At full price, the line is a bit spendy, but for a now-and-then special piece, it's worth shelling out for the full sticker price. What I usually do is stalk my most-loved pieces online and wait hopefully for them to go on markdown. Carrots and Couture: Weekend in Portland

Just three hours south of Seattle sits one of my favorite cities for a weekend getaway. Portland, the City of Roses, is a northern Oregon metropolis known for its inhabitants' outdoorsy lifestyle, and of course, their weirdness. Despite some of the city's eccentricities, Portland is truly a rose amongst some thorny and quirky towns in southern Washington and northern Oregon, a gem of culture and art. Portland is also a great city for foodies thanks to the high frequency of restaurants, microbreweries, coffeehouses, and plethora of dessert spots (hello, Voodoo Donuts and Little Chickpea!). We love to pop down to Portland for a long weekend, or even just a single night stay, enough to feel like we really got away. We've even been known to hit up P Town for a single day's visit. My name is Jenni and I am a lover of all things fashion and food related. Becoming vegan nearly a decade ago pushed me to pay closer attention to the ingredients that I use when I cook. Though not everything I eat is organic, I strive to eat organic, local, and as clean as possible. I’d rather eat at a farm-to-table restaurant with simple and perfectly prepared clean food than a Michelin-rated restaurant with fussy service. My love of fashion sparked when I was very young. Some of my earliest memories involve paging through the glossy spreads in the September edition of Vogue. And later, convincing my parents to take me to Portland to buy a dress for a high school dance so I wouldn't have the same one as anyone else. My sense of style is classic. I like well-tailored timeless pieces, but I’m also drawn to trendier items, especially when they involve beautiful hues or a bit of fanciness like velvet or lace.
