Couture: OOTD for Wine Tasting

Spring can be a little depressing in Washington, so when the sun shines and it's 70 on a Saturday, you dress for the occasion. Especially if that occasion involves wine tasting. This look was inspired by my new gingham skirt... which feels a little like a dressy version of a summery tablecloth for a picnic (if I was Maria Von Trapp and could actually sew, that is). The skirt was the anchor piece, but the outfit came together with a simple fitted V-neck black tee to balance out the pattern and busy-ness of the skirt, a structured white handbag, and a pair of wedge sandals (perfect for wandering about on a lawn with a glass of wine in hand). The skirt is breezy and not too fitted. In warmer weather, I'll probably pair it with a tank, but it would also be cute with a fitted white button up. I was just the right amount of dressed up and pulled together for a wine tasting, but casual enough that I didn't feel out of place. Cheers to gingham. And spring. And great wine.
