Carrots and Couture: Day Trip to Bellingham

Bellingham is one of my favorite roadtrip spots. Not only is it a super doable 3 hour roundtrip jaunt, but it's slower pace makes you feel like you are actually on a mini-vacation. And for me and Ryan, a trip to Bellingham is always a walk down memory lane since we lived there long ago when we were young.

Every trip to Bellingham includes a pop into my favorite little boutique, Sojourn. Sojourn is like picking through the closet of your coolest friend. Boasting a curated collection of your favorite brands (Free People, Jack, 7 For All Mankind, etc.), they've done the selection process for you. Rather than being overwhelmed by choices, they keep their buying narrow so that you get the best of the best.

On this trip, the lovely Sarah helped me select a sweet little pair of polka dot 7 For All Mankind jeans and an ecru Free People mini. I can already picture the jeans with a fun pink tee and a pair of platform sneakers, but the jeans also looked great they way Sojourn styled them with a breezy white blouse knotted at the waist. The ecru skirt is the perfect neutral color, almost like a khaki, but a bit more ivory. It will match EVERYTHING. The destressing and button fly make for great details and I'm already thinking how cute this skirt will look when paired with an open back sweater and some throw on slides for my next outdoor concert. If you're searching for something casual, dressy, or anything in between, Sojourn is the spot to find that perfect look in Bellingham!

Normally when we go to Bellingham, we like to hit up all our favorite spots including Old Town Cafe, Keenan's At The Pier, Colophon Cafe, The Woods, etc. But we keep driving by this adorable little hole-in-the-wall called Leaf and Ladle and decided we'd better try it out. And oh my gosh were we glad we did! Encouraged by the to-go order that was being made while we waited, we went for the same dish and each ordered the Asian Salad. Ryan had his with chicken in a wrap and I had mine in salad form with tempeh. The crunch of the jicama and the sweetness of the toasted coconut were perfectly balanced by THE BEST peanut vinaigrette I have ever had. And despite that the portions are extremely generous, we even walked away with two vegan cookies to share on the car ride home. Because who can choose between a peanut butter cookie and a molasses cookie? The answer is always both.
