Couture: Remixing Old Favorties for Date Night

Two years ago we had the cut-out, cold shoulder top. Last year the off the shoulder top was everywhere. This year, we seem to be dipping back to the 90s with crop tops. Thanks, but no thanks.

For a recent date night, I resurrected an off the shoulder top circa Summer of 2018. The on-trend yellow is what makes the blouse look current. So, as you dig through your closet and pull out treasures from seasons' past, look for details that make the pieces look new, or pair them with a hot trend. Here, I opted for a pair of slide sandals, an on trend element that updated the look of this year-old blouse. Later this the fall, I might wear this top with skinny jeans tucked into a pair of suede OTK boots and a ruana wrapped around my shoulders for an extra layer, all topped with a felt hat and some boho bracelets. Next summer, I could easily pair this top with white jean shorts and wedge sandals, allowing me to wear this top for three seasons. So the big takeaway here is that those off the shoulder tops from last spring and summer are more versatile than you may think!

Here's the look.

Top: Sanctuary, Evereve. Jeans: Frame Slit Hem, Nordstrom. Slides: Tory Burch. Sunnies: Salvatore Ferragamo. Gold Hoops: Vintage find.
