If there's one universal that the Covid-19 situation has brought, it's a disruption to routine. No matter who you are or where you live, it's likely that you have had some element of your daily life interrupted by social distancing measures, and for good reason. Sometimes it takes a push to try something new, and interrupting one's routine might not always be a bad thing.
Exercise has long been an important part of my life, a pivotal start to each day. Even back in high school, I used to kick box or step-aerobics my way through the early hours of the morning, long before school began each day. To this day, it's as much a customary act as sipping my morning coffee. Though I am missing the community I have discovered is as much a part of my workout routine as the workout itself, thanks to the folks at my Bar Method and Cycle Bar studios, I have found a different kind of joy in my new routine of morning runs.
There's something about being outside as the sun rises that makes you feel grateful. Birds chirping, bunnies hopping, you feel spring awakening as the morning brightens with each step. Though I'm sure I'll wind up back in my studio classes and on the Stairmaster at my gym at some point when this is all over, I don't think outdoor running will be something I give up. I've gained too much from it already.
So imagine my surprise that I am no longer browsing Lululemon's website to find the cutest patterned pants for bar class, but rather scouring the reviews of their running pants. Because really, function over beauty at this point. Eight miles in and you care more about the fit than how you look! And yet, I seem to have found a pair that marries fashion and function.
Enter the Lululemon Free to Speed High-Rise 25" Pant. Made from quick-drying Nulux fabric, these pants will wick away sweat as quickly as you can fly down the trail. One of my favorite features is the loop on either side of the waistband designed to hold your long-sleeved shirt or light top layer so you don't have to continually retie the sleeves, an annoyance for anyone who's had to shed a layer while out on a run. I also like the zipperless back pocket for easy storage of keys or a phone. And, you can find them in the always chic black, or a bright "wild bluebell" blue here.
